In the Lineapelle booth there were some extraordinary design objects: armchairs and pouffes created by the historical furniture company Estel with our fabrics

They are called Embrace and Polpetta. They are two armchairs designed by Estel and exposed at our stand at Lineapelle. Their particularity? They were upholstered with fabrics made by Schmid, making them unique products that caught the attention of the public during the whole trade show. Especially the younger visitors appreciated the initiative, taking numerous pictures and enjoying the fun of sitting in Estel’s creations.

Lorenzo Basoni, who coordinated the project for the Vicenza-based company, tells us their story. «In the case of the Polpetta armchair, it was a provocation. We wanted to show that different materials can be combined in a fun way. The colour effects were striking. Embrace is a simpler model, destined to office use. For this model we chose to create  compositions with two colours, one for the back and one for the seat». Along with the armchairs, colourful pouffes, in various sizes, were on display.

Style and technical performance: a winning combination

Many different fabrics were used to cover the armchairs and pouffes, such as satin, denim, vintage and bouclè canvas. «We managed to achieve excellent technical performances with very sophisticated and beautiful fabrics, that were the result of very advanced style studies – said Estel’s stylist. It was a wonderful challenge, that enabled us to experiment products that we weren’t used to».

Schmid’s CEO Paolo Ciccarelli was also very satisfied with the outcome. «The experiment is a flat-out success. The positive feedback obtained at Lineapelle confirmed the validity of this project. We are grateful to Estel for having collaborated with us in such a creative way. Obviously, we hope that this partnership will continue in the future».
