Schmid’s fashion trends and the winners

The contestants were asked to create garments and accessories using materials produced by Schmid (satin, nettings, lace and glitter) and find their cue from the four trends identified for our spring/summer 2016 collection: Wellness a porter, Archi-Couture, Effortless and Botanical.

A top-notch jury for the Textile Talent Contest

The winners of the Textile Talent Contest were chosen by a jury chaired by Mario Boselli (honorary president of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the Italian fashion chamber) and formed by Gimmi Baldinini (chairman of the eponymous footwear company), Maurizio Pecoraro (designer), Fulvia Bacchi (chief executive of the group UNIC) and Paola Bottelli (a journalist specialised in the fashion industry).

“We believe in young people,” stressed Paolo Ciccarelli, chief executive and chairman of Schmid –

Not only when they represent a consumer target for our products, but also when they generate new ideas and new stimuli for our work. In Italy, there is a gap, that is difficult to bridge, between school and the work place and the fashion industry, which by its nature should be more open-minded to experiments, is no exception. So this contest is our small, but concrete, contribution to opening up some doors.”
