The world’s economic powerhouse has started revving up its engine again. In the third quarter of 2014, the US economy rose by a record 5%. Once again the fashion industry is among the industries leading this upward cycle thanks to its capacity of re-inventing itself in light of the great social changes experienced over the past years. «We can play an important role in the US», said chairman and chief executive Paolo Ciccarelli. «There is room for those like us who can offer a history, craftmanship and Italian design, which are always sought after».

For these reasons, Schmid has launched a commercial network dedicated to its American clients. It is called the US Desk and is run by a young Italo-American who will, because of the importance of the project, report directly to the chairman and CEO Paolo Ciccarelli. «We have decided to create a direct and permanent presence in the market», said Ciccarelli. «This enables us to identify and understand the needs of the leading American brands that now have a global presence in the fashion industry».

Clear objectives and long-term partnerships

Schmid will offer to American clients high quality products, such as satin, glitter, velvets, mesh, PVC/polyurethane and natural fabrics, and above all, a tailor-made and forthcoming customer service to create a genuine partnership.

In its opening weeks, the US Desk focused on strengthening relationships with Schmid’s existing clients, which include high-profile brands such as Kate Spade, Ivanka Trump, Nine West, Coach, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Brown Shoe and many others.  The next step will be to contact a wide range of potential new clients, including emerging designers and companies. Schmid’s goal? To establish a direct presence in the US to guarantee a seamless relationship with its clients.
