Schmid brings Brera’s artwork in production

Schmid’s collaboration with schools is part of the company philosophy. Main purpose of the company is to lead the next generation of designers to the working life, starting from their school period. Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera is one of the institution with which Schmid has been collaborating for a long time and this year two of the students will see their creations come to life.

It is not easy for young designers to havetheir creations produced. It is not only a matter of talent but also of constancy andsome time even luck. Anna Antonicelli and Simona Valotti, two students of Textile Culture course of Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera held by Professor Livia Crispolti, reworked some textiles donated from Schmid to the Accademy and had them showing during last LP in February. Today the same creations have been part of the new F/W 19-20 collection.

“I believe that giving us the chance to work with companies during our studying period is absolutely important for us students. Not only because the company itself might be a future opportunity but also because it allows us to better understand our expectations”. These are the words of Simona Valotti, to whom we also asked to explain us her creation: “The fabric I used impressed me immediately for its particular glittery texture. I reproduced on the base a motif of weaving yarns that gave a new vision to the fabric itself. I’d like my creation could be named LANUREX, from the mix of LANA (WOOL) and LUREX”.

The polka dots, on the other hand, have inspired Anna Antonicelli: “the fact that they were equidistant and symmetrically arranged made me thought I could use them as a reference point and they became the sides of the triangles I carved into the fabric. My creation does not have a name but several people told me that it might be call ravioli because the triangles remembered them”.

Both these creations will be available amongst the exclusive products offered upon request by the company based in San Giuliano.
